We Are Redefining Care
Marietta Memorial Hospital understands that your visit to the Emergency Department can be unexpected and stressful.  That's why we've developed systems and care plans to ease the burden on patients and families.

Wait Times Decrease
Our Physician First Program means that during our busiest times, a physician will greet patients and their care will begin almost immediately.  Under this process, testing can be ordered sometimes even before the patient is brought back into a room.  This speeds the completion of diagnostic tests like x-rays, EKG's and blood work.
In less urgent cases, patients are discharged directly to home by the triage physician, eliminating the need to place a patient in a bed or room.  Traditionally, patients who visited the Emergency Department signed in at the registration desk, filled out forms, and waited for an evaluation.

The new process puts the whole team at the front door to support patient needs, make the delivery of care quicker and more efficient.  In fact, studies are showing wait times at 30 minutes or less and overall visits in many cases at about two hours.

We understand the frustration over waiting for care and we are doing everything we can to see patients as soon as possible.  The length of the visit constantly changes depending on the different types and severity of patients arriving in the ED, and on the tests that will need run to ensure the best treatment possible.  Some tests are more involved and take longer than others and must be reviewed by radiologists and other specialists.

Expert Training
As a Level III Trauma Center we provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, emergency surgery, and stabilization and also arrange for transfer to a facility that can provide definitive care when needed.  Because all of our Emergency Department nurses are Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nurse Core Course certified, and all of the physicians are either board certified in Emergency Medicine or current in Advanced Trauma Life Support, we are prepared to handle both big and small emergencies.

Setting Expectations
From greeting you at the door, to educating you on what tests are being run and what to expect during that test, our goal is to keep you informed.  Your caregiver will lead you through your care every step of the way.
Did We Meet Your Expectations?
What makes our hospital special is it's intertwined with the very personal experiences of the patients and families we serve, our dedicated physicians, employees, volunteers and community members.

The Emergency Department at Marietta Memorial Hospital is committing to expediting care and keeping you informed.  We hope this will be reflected in your experience.  Now we're inviting you to share how we did.  By sharing your stories with us, you deepen our understanding of our mission to serve the community.

You will be answering a series of questions to tell your story.  All stories will be reviewed and, if you give your permission, a staff member may contact you to use your story online or in any of our publications.
