A Patient's Perspective

Cecelia Sprouse normally leads a very active lifestyle.  She owns a local business with her husband, enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her granddaughter.  This was everyday life for Cecelia until one day she woke up with a shoot pain down her neck and arm.  Before she knew it, her active lifestyle was a thing of the past.  She couldn't move her head side to side, couldn't be as active, couldn't sleep well and was in constant pain.

"It affected everything in my life and it was very difficult to get through the day," says Sprouse.  "I couldn't find relief."

One day her daughter learned about the Spine Center at Marietta Memorial Hospital and called for an appointment.  "I had an appointment on a Friday and met with Kim Crum, family nurse practitioner.  She treated me as though I was her only patient.  She answered all of my questions and explained what was happening in great detail.  In my case, I needed surgery.  I had an appointment with the neurosurgeon the very next week and surgery soon after."

Sprouse continues to follow up with the Spine Center, learning exercises and strengthening techniques that will help build up her core muscles.  She is grateful to the physicians and staff for the care she received.  "My life has been so much different since going to the Spine Center," says Sprouse, "I am able to enjoy life again.  I would recommend the Spine Center.  They are a very kind, caring group."
