Marietta Memorial Encourages Safe Driving Superbowl Sunday

Marietta Memorial Hospital’s Addiction & Pain Services is working with 27 Washington and Wood county restaurant and bar owners to keep roads safe this Superbowl Sunday.

“In the United States, someone dies every 30 minutes in alcohol-related auto accidents,” said Charlie Hasse, Director, Behavioral Health Services at Marietta Memorial.  “And, someone is injured every two minutes.  Our goal is to lessen these tragedies and encourage people to think before they drink.”

The Designated Driver campaign is designed to educate the public and encourage people to take a stand against impaired driving. Participating locations will provide FREE designated non-alcoholic drinks to patrons who announce they are designated drivers during Superbowl Sunday. Posters and coasters will be prominent in those locations participating in the event.

“We have establishments from Wood and Washington County participating and look forward to making the day a little safer for those traveling throughout the area,” said Hasse.  Participants include:

In Washington County:
American Legion #64, Applebees, Austyn’s, Double L, The Galley, Harmar Tavern, Holiday Inn, House of Wines, Lafayette Hotel, Levee House, Marietta Brewing Company, Moose Lodge 1823, Norwood Tavern, River City Boathouse, River City Tavern & Grill, Riverside, Spagnas, Tampico, Town House.
