“Hope for the Holidays” Event Celebrates Organ Donors
Memorial Health System is partnering with Lifeline of Ohio to provide a “Hope for the Holidays,” event Tuesday, November 13 at 6 p.m. in the South Pavilion Conference Room at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
“Hope for the Holidays” is an event organized by Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement (LOOP) and the hospital for donor families to make Christmas decorations in honor of their loved one(s). The event is open to organ and tissue donor families and recipients from Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia.
“This event is a way to pay tribute to their generosity and offer support to donor families as they enter the holiday season”, says Sue McDonald, LOOP liaison for Marietta Memorial Hospital (MMH), “We will be making ornaments in honor of loved ones and heroes, and hanging them on a holiday tree at Marietta Memorial Hospital to be displayed throughout the season.”
The event is a joint celebration with MMH and Selby General Hospital’s LOOP programs. Every day 18 men, women and children die while waiting for an organ transplant. Every 10 minutes, another person is added to the national waiting list for organ donation.
For more information contact Sue McDonald, LOOP liaison for MMH, at (740) 374-4926. RSVP can be made to Kathy Warhola at (800) 525-5667 ext. 344.
