Welcome to "Girl Talk"
Your Resource for Breast Health Information in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
One in eight women will get breast cancer in their lifetime and our risk increases as we age. Although those numbers may sound frightening, research reveals that the mortality rate could decrease by 30 percent if all women age 50 and older in need of a mammogram had one. Additionally, if detected early, breast cancer has a five-year survival rate of over 95 percent. And, while breast cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, many women with early breast cancer have no symptoms of the disease. Because early detection is important, the Memorial Health System is working to elevate awareness of the signs, symptoms and screening options available in our community. To schedule your mammogram call (740) 374-1595.
Having the latest breast cancer screening and diagnostic technology as well as treatment options in one location provides convenient care and rapid results. The advantage is:
- Diagnostic assessment and response are streamlined for patient convenience and confidence.
- Direct and on-site access to a team of physicians in a centralized location.
- Patients receive both an evaluation condition and answers to questions about available treatment options right away.
Memorial Health System is also pleased to announce the recent addition of the Selenia™ mammography unit from Hologic®. This unit uses revolutionary direct capture technology, letting us continue our tradition of bringing the latest advances in breast cancer detection to our patients. The new equipment provides high-definition images that can be magnified and adjusted to give physicians the best possible view. The Selenia™ also incorporates a computerized system that detects abnormal patterns human eyes cannot see, providing an “extra set of eyes” for the physicians. And because the images are available in just 10 seconds, patients can expect faster exams.
