Cardiac rehabilitation is an important part of the recovery process that helps patients with heart disease, a heart attack or other heart-related disorder resume an active lifestyle. Marietta Memorial Hospital's nationally certified cardiac rehabilitation program combines medical supervision and cardiac monitoring, educational, dietary and individual counseling, with a progressive exercise program to help people reach and maintain a high level of heart fitness and return to a full, productive life.
During this process, registered nurses, respiratory therapists and dietitians work as a team to provide clinical care and supervision of patients in the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
Cardiac Rehab supports patients who have:
- Cardiovascular disease (only if patient has stable angina)
- Had a recent cardiac event, such as a heart attack.
- Had a cardiac procedure, such as angioplasty or heart surgery.
Benefits of Cardiac Rehab
Cardiac Rehab offers many benefits. It can improve the ability to carry out activities of daily living, reduce heart disease risk factors, improve quality of life, improve outlook and emotional stability, and increase the knowledge of heart disease and how to manage it.
