Marietta Memorial Hospital is the foundation of a high-quality, wide-ranging health organization known as Memorial Health System. More than 150 physicians representing over 40 medical specialties serve the 199-bed, not-for-profit hospital. Together with the hospital's 1,200 staff members, they form a team that provides a high level of care in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The hospital has a long, rich history. The Marietta Memorial Hospital Corp. was formed in 1921 by a group of local citizens who saw a need for a large, centralized health care center in the community. The undertaking would be a memorial to Washington County residents who lost their lives in World War I, these pioneers decided. A massive community fund-raising and organizational campaign came to fruition when, on July 9, 1929, the hospital admitted its first patient.

Memorial has responded through the years to the changing needs of the region, adding to its structure and services to meet the health care expectations of its patients. Today, the hospital and its affiliates offer a lifetime of care -- from prenatal services through retirement living.

At Marietta Memorial Hospital, some amazing things happen each and every day.
