Marietta Memorial Hospital’s Blood Bank Recognizes Blood Collector’s Week
During the week of September 11 – 17, MMH’s Blood Bank will join other blood centers across the country in celebrating Blood Collector’s Week. This annual recognition week identifies and celebrates the critical role blood collector’s serve in helping to ensure blood is available to patients in need.
On Monday, September 12 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., MMH’s Blood Mobile will be holding a blood drive at Natural Remedies Spa in Vienna, WV to honor its blood collection staff. Community members are encouraged to show their support for this profession by making a blood donation and helping blood collectors meet local blood supply needs.
Blood collection professionals serve an important role in educating donors and helping to ensure a safe and comfortable donation experience. In a whole blood donation, a pint of blood is collected and then divided into its therapeutic components for transfusion. Red blood cells represent the blood component in highest demand with about 16 million units transfused annually.
For more information on our blood mobile locations or to schedule a donation, please call (740) 374-1432 or visit our website at www.mmhospital.org.
